Usually presents as a well defined elevated lesion with embedded black dots and cauliflower appearance.
More commonly seen in teenagers and children.
Ingrown Toenails
Usually affecting the large toe, however the lesser toes can be affected as well. It occurs when a splinter of the nail or the whole nails starts to grow into the flesh of the toe. This can become infected and painful. Ingrown toe nails can occur both acute; happening from trauma or improper nail cutting, and chronic; likely an ongoing problem.
Nail Bracing
The Onyfix nail correction system is a versatile and innovative product that enables completely painless treatment of almost all forms of involuted and ingrown toenails.
Orthotics
Custom orthotics are a medical device that is inserted into shoes to provide optimal support to the structures of our feet and redistribute pressures placed onto muscles and joints.

Orthotics provide relief and ongoing support to facilitate realignment of the knees, hips and spine. The medical devices act to correct and/or accommodate foot deformities and variety of conditions such as flat arches, hammer toes, plantar fasciitis, bunions, and more!
Compression Stockings
Compression stockings are designed to improve blood circulation by aiding the vascular return of blood from the lower extremities to the heart. The medical device comes in different strength levels (mild, moderate and firm support), styles and sizes. Compression garments should be recommended and prescribed by a medical professional.
ToeFx
The ToeFX Therapy Light is authorized by Health Canada for the clearance of toenail fungus (onychomycosis). Painless, drug-free and no side-effects. The ClearToe Therapy Light uses photodisinfection to target fungal infections.
Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave therapy accelerates the healing process in the body by stimulating the metabolism and enhancing blood circulation to regenerate damaged tissue.
Strong energy pulses are applied to the affected area for short periods of time, creating micro-cavitation bubbles that expand and burst. The force created by these bubbles stimulates cells in the body that are responsible for bone and connective tissue healing.
Shockwave therapy is the most effective in cases where the human body has not been able to heal itself on its own.
In shockwave therapy, an acoustic pressure wave is transmitted to the body tissue and, consequently, to the painful area. The pressure wave created at the point of contact transmits radially inside the patient’s body.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral to see a chiropodist?
No, referrals from a physician or other health care provider are not necessary to see the chiropodist. However, your private insurance company may require a referral from your family doctor for the service to be covered.
You can call us at 905 446 9523 to book an appointment. You can also book online here to schedule an appointment.
What can I expect at my first appointment?
During your first appointment, you will fill out a medical history and consent form, which will be reviewed with the chiropodist. A complete foot and ankle assessment will be conducted, followed by a discussion of appropriate treatment options. Treatment will be performed and a follow up appointment will be scheduled as necessary to provide the best care for your feet.
Please be sure to bring a list of your current medications, any previous orthotics, and some of your frequently worn shoes to your first visit.
Are chiropody services covered under OHIP?
Unfortunately, chiropody services and products are not covered under OHIP. This is similar to services provided by other health care professionals such as dentists, chiropractors, physiotherapists and registered massage therapists. However, many Extended Health Insurance plans offered by employers do cover chiropody services. An official receipt will be provided to you during your visit for insurance reimbursement or income tax purposes.
Depending on your insurance provider and plan we may be able to direct bill for certain services. You may bring in more detailed information about your insurance coverage during your visit so we can determine whether direct billing is possible.
How do I know if chiropody services are covered by my Extended Health Insurance plan?
Extended Health Insurance plans vary between individuals as to the specific services and products that are covered. Many third-party insurance companies offer full or partial coverage for chiropody services, custom made orthotics and other medical items such as compression stockings and stock-item orthopaedic shoes. We strongly recommend that you contact your insurance provider or HR department to determine your eligibility for chiropody services. Our services are usually listed under Paramedical Services, while custom made orthotics and compression socks are often listed under Medical Equipment or Orthopaedic Supplies. An official receipt will be provided to you during your visit for insurance reimbursement or income tax purposes.
